When I was eight years old mum bought me a pair of knee high socks for school. They were a dark forest green and I hated them. She made me wear them with my beloved Bata Bullets which made me hate them even more. One day I returned home without them. Mum firmly told me to check the lost property box the following day and being a very obedient child I did just that. To my horror there they were! I just couldn't do it, I couldn't bring myself to take them out of that box and take them home again, so there they stayed among the odd socks, sun hats and discarded home knitted cardigan. I never saw those socks again.
Now I'm the mother and I've certainly changed my opinion on knee high socks, in fact I'm in love with them and on a recent internet search for good quality knee high socks I immediately stumbled upon Classical Child, a New Zealand website that specialises in unique classic clothing.
To my delight I quickly found that Classical Child are the New Zealand stockists of Spanish Condor socks. Colours such as mustard, petunia, duck egg, sesame pink, French blue and yes even ..... forest green!
While the ribbed are my favourite, Sadie loves the pom pom knee highs along with the tassels and lace ankle socks. Hugo rocks his French blue knee highs with his vintage tan sandals and Oscar finds his vintage lace ups much more comfortable worn with a pair of camel Condors.
Mum of two Stacie has a love of beautiful classic children's clothing and it inspired her to open Classical Child from her home. She's sourced a range of beautiful clothing and often hard to find accessories including stunning Liberty of London hair bows. She's quick to answer any enquiries and keeps great communication between transactions. Next time I might even be tempted to purchase a pair of forest green knee highs.
