Buddy Polly is Oscar's name for his security blanket.
Polly is the mattress from his baby hammock. When Oscar out grew the hammock I thought it would help the transition if I put the mattress into his cot with him. It worked really well and the transition was made smoothly.
Now that he's in a bed the mattress became his pillow. When Oscar goes to bed he wraps the end of the mattress around his face saying the words "nuggle, nuggle, nuggle".
If we go on a long trip or an over night stay, Polly comes. When Oscar gets out of bed Polly is tucked under his arm. If he watches a movie, Polly is there on the floor with Oscar lying on top.
When Polly needs a wash I have to get it done the same day or he misses her. She gets really grubby.
Oscar tells me that the mattress is 'Polly's brain', but the important part of Polly is the mattress cover. That must be Polly's soul. The mattress doesn't haven't to be included, it's the cover that he loves the most.
I'm not sure where the name Polly came from, he just recently annouced that her name was Polly and Polly was his buddy.
So Buddy Polly it is.
