Once a week for dinner we have a 'try something new night'. The children suggest a new food that they might like to try. Once decided we find a recipe, go the market, purchase the ingredients and we then prepare it together.
Tonight Charlie wanted to try rice balls with salmon. They were a big hit, fun and super easy to make.
I cooked some sushi rice and let it cool on a plate. We had a selection of fillings including salmon, chicken, cream cheese, carrot and cucumber.
Each child had a small piece of cling film and spooned on two tablespoons of rice into the middle. They then chose their fillings and spooned on another tablespoon of rice on top of the filling.
Then using the cling film they moulded the rice into balls.
Well done Charlie ~ they were delicious!
