We had a bit of an accident in the kitchen a few days back....someone (not me I must add) left the tap running in the kitchen sink and forgot about it. Water everywhere....which saturated all through the draws and cupboards.
While cleaning it up I got to my linen draw where I realized I had an accidental collection of aprons. I say accidental because I don't purposely go out looking for them in the thrift shops and I certainly don't have the need for so many aprons.
It's the fabric that draws me in....it's hard to find vintage fabric in the thrift stores these days, but I always seem to manage to find an odd apron or two.
I like to dream of a dress in this fabric...
or a skirt in this one.
I Googled "making skirts from old aprons" and found mostly sites on how to "make aprons from old skirts" ~ which made me wonder if many of these lovely handmade aprons were originally dresses and skirts and re-purposed into something useful many years a go.
Do you have an accidental collection?
Do you have an idea on how to maybe transform these aprons into skirts?
