One of our favourite local spots to visit is Cobblestones Museum ~ an early settlers museum with interesting buildings and collections of things from pioneer life.
When we visited on Saturday we were happy to be told that the Printing Works was open.
Here houses a variety of early printing equipment, draws and draws of types and a wonderful volunteer to give you a hands on lesson.
Charlie and Sadie helped moving the 40 kg rolling pin on the 1899 ~ Challenge Gallery Proofing Press.
The children printed one each to take home as a memento.
There are lots of other buildings to explore too
~ an old school, wool shed, church, hospital and a pioneer cottage
~ all have been sourced within the Wairarapa and set in beautiful grounds.
