and palaeontologist and a vulcanologist and a biologist and a marine biologist? These are all the things Charlie wants to be when he grows up.
Christmas presents where quite hard to find this year, especially when he's nuts over Jurassic Park and the last movie was made in 2001, so the toys are extra hard to find. First I scoured the region for 2nd hand Jurassic Park toys. I was fairly successful thanks to Graham's Bazaar in Carterton. Charlie didn't care one bit that he got 2nd gifts for Christmas which was great.

It was really fun collecting various science experiments for Charlie's Christmas stocking. Our window sill currently looks like a mad scientists laboratory.

His favourites were the dinosaur eggs. When immersed in water over time little dinosaurs hatch out and grow bigger as they absorb the water.

Insects and animals that grow in water....

Magic monsters ~ grow a crystal monster. It didn't grow as many crystals as the box showed and it would of been great if they had an explanation of how it worked, but Charlie was fascinated. They grow quite fast, every 15 minutes he would check on it's progress. Within 10 hours it was fully formed. I would buy these again for future birthday presents for Charlie's friends.

Magic Capsules are great value. You get 4 fantastic experiments in a plastic test tube. Everything you need for the experiments are inside the capsule and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.
And finally a prehistoric skeleton excavation kit from Kidz Labs. Charlie felt like a real palaeontologist and he's still digging the pterosaur out!
