Craft 2.0

I've been really pushing myself hard to have lots of Heart Felt goodness for Craft 2.0 this weekend ~ but I've hit the wall with a miserable head cold.   Should be all better by Saturday.  I'm really looking forward to it ~ it's going to be quite an experience.

Creating is made easy when I have this gorgeous thing as inspiration....

Winters Day

There's only so much baking, drawing and reading a family can do on a wintry Sunday, so on went the coats, hats and boots for a little winter foraging.

No matter the weather or season it's fun to go out and find little treasures from Mother Nature.

like good old fashioned tree climbing....

 

and throwing stones into the water.

 

Sadie is such a mother hen, helping Oscar across the grass and showing him different wild flowers.

Baby fox

Like a lot of you, I've been 'pinning'.  It's a great place to collect images for future reference and a little inspiration for craft, interiors, clothing or just things that make you smile.

One thing that caught my eye this week was this and I had to make one for my little fox.

Cooking with Oscar

Oscar helped me in the kitchen today for the very first time.

 I was impressed how he took direction with out any fuss.

He sifted the flour, combined the sugar and egg together and then mixed the batter to make pikelets for lunch.

 

Big sister was a great help too.

Edmonds Pikelets

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup milk

 

Sift flower, baking powder and salt into a bowl.   In another bowl beat egg and sugar until thick.  Add with milk to the sifted ingredients.   Mix until just combined.  Drop tablespoonful of the mixture onto a hot, greased frying pan.  Turn pikelets over when bubbles start to burst on top surface.  Cook second side until golden.

Hello from Canterbury, New Zealand! My name is Rachel and I am the owner of
a little collection of handmade things named Rosycheeks.
My grandmothers and my mother all had a love of sewing and embroidery and
creating lovely things and I have inherited that from them, as well as my
characteristic rosycheeks! I am a mother to four children and my focus for
these last ten years has been giving them the kind of idyllic kiwi childhood
that my husband and I had growing up in this beautiful country.

I love making beautiful things for my children - items that are unique and
made with care and can't be found on hundreds of other children. Life can
sure get busy with four children, but working on these little hats brings me
a lot of pleasure and relaxation in the quieter times.

Creating this little woollen hat has combined my love of two things - vintage
and hand embroidery, with the bonus of being very practical. The hats are
made from pressed wool and have a soft flannel lining. They are securely
buttoned at the side and protect those little ears from chills. So while
being in the fresh outdoors puts the roses into their little cheeks, their
ears and head are protected from the bite of winter.

Baby chicks

I had a fantastic day at the New Rags Market.  Met up with lots of old friends and met lots of new ones.  It's wonderful to see so many talented and artistic locals together under one roof.  The gorgeous Abbie has done an amazing job in organizing this event.  

I resisted looking at the array of children's clothing and looked at toys instead.  I'm eyeing up an amazing hand crafted wooden go kart for a little boys birthday later in the year.  The one thing I couldn't resist was a felted mother bird and her chicks in their own nest for Sadie.

She loves it dearly and took them to the park today in a dolls pram and placed them lovininly in a tree for some fresh air.

 

 

 

The next New Rags Market will be on the 2nd July ~ sadly I will have to miss this one because excitingly Heart Felt will be at Craft 2.0 at the Dowse Art Gallery on the same day!  I'm very excited but at the same time extremely nervous.  I've had lots of great advice and I'm hoping Heart Felt will be well recieved.
